A devotee, Laxmichand, privately wondered if the cough was the result of someone's evil eye affecting Baba. The very next morning, when Laxmichand was in the masjid, Baba remarked to Madhavrao, "Yesterday I had much coughing; is this the effect of an evil eye?" By voicing Laxmichand's exact, unspoken thought, Baba revealed his all-pervading consciousness. This left Laxmichand amazed, making him realize that Baba dwells in everyone's heart and knows their every thought.
