I heard Appasaheb made a promise to a Fakir. What was the promise and did he keep it?

📖 Chapter 33

Chapter 33 recounts the story of Appasaheb Kulkarni. After his family gave a single rupee to a Fakir, who was Sai Baba, Appa felt the amount was insufficient. He made a mental resolution, stating, "Had I been there, I would have given ten times more." He thus gave his word to himself that he would give ten rupees. However, when the Fakir, or another one, returned on the very same day, Appa became suspicious. Despite having six rupees available at that moment, he hesitated and did not offer the money, thus failing to immediately fulfill his promise and become 'debt-free' in his devotion.
