He would go to the local shopkeepers daily to beg for oil for the lamps in the mosque and temple. After some time, the grocers grew tired of this and conspired to refuse him. When Baba came for oil, they all said no. He returned quietly to the mosque, placed dry wicks in the lamps, and then took his tin pot which had a tiny bit of oil. He poured water into it, drank it as an offering, and then filled the lamps with plain water. To the amazement of the watching grocers, he lit the wicks, and the lamps burned all night long using only water.
