I feel so distant from Baba, as if he is gone since he left his body. How can I reconnect and feel his presence again?

It is natural to feel this way, but the scriptures reassure us that Sai Baba has not truly gone. As explained in Chapter 43, the idea that he "left the body" is a misunderstanding. Sai Samarth, being the complete Supreme Brahman, is beyond birth and death. He appeared in Shirdi for the protection of his devotees and when his task was done, he merely merged himself into the unmanifest, continuing to reside in the hearts of his devotees. The text states that by merely remembering his name, the concepts of birth and death fade away. He is still very much present, enjoying his true self and keeping his devotees spiritually awake.
