I feel overwhelmed by worldly suffering. What guidance does Chapter 17 offer for finding a way out of this cycle?

📖 Chapter 17

Chapter 17 acknowledges the unendurable torments of worldly existence (Samsara) and suggests that the very search for a way out is the birth of true human effort, or Purushartha. The guidance provided is to actively choose the path of Shreya (the Good) over Preya (the Pleasant). The chapter advises that one must strengthen their intellect to make this choice, much like a swan takes only the milk when it is mixed with water. To stop the painful rotation of the wheel of existence, one must first understand where Shreya lies and then struggle to resist the obstacles, such as desire and ignorance, that appear on that path.
