How was the area decorated and prepared for the Chavadi procession?

The surroundings were elaborately prepared for the festive procession. As described in Chapter 37, the crossroads were adorned with arches and toranas (garlands), and flags fluttered high in the sky. Many rows of lamps were lit in the vicinity of the Masjid, creating a beautiful spectacle. The path for Baba was made special by devotees spreading shawls and double shawls as foot-cloths. Even the horse Shyamakarna was part of the decor, standing resplendent in full ornamentation at the courtyard gate, ready to lead the procession.
