The annual fair, or Jatra, was first proposed by the devotee Gopalrao Gund as a way to honor Maharaj. Chapter 0 explains that he shared this idea with Tatya Patil, Dada Kote Patil, and Madhavrao Deshpande, who all agreed to organize it. Despite initial obstacles from a local Kulkarni which required obtaining a specific order from the collector, the fair was approved. By Maharaj's command, it was decided the fair would be held on Ram Navami each year. A key tradition of this fair involves a grand procession with two large ceremonial flags. One flag was contributed by Nanasaheb Nimonkar and the other by Damu Shet Kasar, and they were tied to the Masjid.
How was the annual Ram Navami fair initiated, and what were some of its central traditions?
