Sai Baba was escorted with great reverence and ceremony. Chapter 37 explains that He was surrounded by His most devoted followers. Tatyaba held His left hand, and Mhalasapati held His right hand, guiding Him along the path. Bapusaheb Jog held an umbrella over Baba's head. On either side, two chowrie-bearers fanned Him as He walked. The procession was led by the decorated horse Shyamakarna, and a mace-bearer walked ahead shouting Sai's name.
