How was Maharaj involved when Kashiram was attacked, and what was the outcome for Kashiram?

During the very moment Kashiram was being attacked by armed thieves, Maharaj, who was in Shirdi, began acting very agitated, shouting and swearing. As Chapter 0 explains, the people around him understood that this unusual behavior was a sign that he was actively protecting a devotee who was in great danger. After the thieves left him for dead, Kashiram regained consciousness. Due to his strong faith, he refused hospital treatment and insisted on being taken to Shirdi. There, Madhavrao Deshpande treated him on Maharaj's instructions, and by Maharaj's grace, he recovered fully. For this brave act, Kashiram was even gifted a sword by the Bombay government.
