According to Chapter 38, Sai Baba was profoundly and personally involved in every stage of the cooking process. He would go to the grocer himself to purchase all the necessary ingredients like salt, chili, vegetables, and coconut, paying in cash. Back in the Masjid, Baba would tirelessly perform the main labor, such as grinding wheat, pulses, and millet on the grinding stone with his own hands. He also ground the spices, adjusted the fire in the hearth, kneaded dough for large flatbreads called "Pole," and prepared a gruel known as "Ambil." Once the food was cooked in the Handi, he would serve it with great love to everyone, especially the poor and weak.
