Sai Baba was deeply and personally involved in every stage of the cooking process. According to Chapter 38, the main labor for the Handi was done by Baba himself, tirelessly. He would personally go to the grocer to buy all the necessary ingredients like salt, chili, vegetables, and coconut, paying in cash on the spot. Back in the Masjid, he would set up the grinding stone with his own hands to grind wheat, pulses, and millet. The text also mentions that he performed the work of grinding spices with great devotion and would personally manage the fire in the hearth to ensure the food cooked properly.
