How does the text illustrate the concept of false ego and its consequences?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 19

The text explains that the ego of 'I am the body' is a false bondage for a liberated person. Chapter 19 uses powerful analogies to illustrate this, comparing it to mistakenly perceiving a snake where there is only a coiled rope, or seeing the glitter of silver on a seashell. These perceptions are false superimpositions, just like the idea that our true self is the body. As long as this ego regarding the body, intellect, and mind persists, the sense of being a 'doer' and 'enjoyer' remains. Consequently, the experience of pleasure and pain becomes unavoidable, trapping the individual in the cycle of worldly affairs.
