How does the text explain the nature of Maya and its relationship to bondage and liberation?

📖 Chapter 50

The text in Chapter 50 portrays Maya as an indescribable illusion of name and form that is very difficult to overcome. It suggests that Maya's dwelling place is in any pulse of imagination that occurs in the mind. Crucially, the birth of both bondage and liberation is said to originate from this imagination. While the Vedic theorem 'Only from knowledge comes liberation' is upheld, the text clarifies that one who attains pure knowledge does so by abandoning Maya through resolve, thereby freeing themselves from its bondage. Thus, Maya is the foundational illusion that creates the perceived states of suffering and freedom.
