How does the text distinguish a genuine Sai-devotee from someone whose devotion is merely superficial?

📖 Chapter 45

Chapter 45 draws a clear distinction based on the devotee's inner state and focus. A genuine Sai-devotee is described as someone who cannot be separated from Sai even for a moment and knows how to be detached from worldly affairs. Their devotion is all-consuming. In contrast, superficial devotion is characterized by a divided mind. The text provides vivid examples, such as a person whose ears hear Sai's praise while their tongue is immersed in the sweet juice of mangoes, or one who touches Sai’s feet but cannot give up the desire for soft beds. This illustrates a failure to dedicate all senses to the act of worship.
