How does the analogy of the broken pot explain the nature of existence after the body's death, and what does this imply about our fear?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 37

In Chapter 37, Sai uses the analogy of a pot to illustrate the persistence of existence beyond form. When a pot is broken, only its shape is destroyed; the underlying 'pot-existence' continues in the broken pieces. Similarly, the passing of a person's body does not mean they end in nothingness. The effect, which is the body, is not separate from its cause, which is existence itself. This teaching implies that our fear of death is rooted in a misunderstanding of reality. By realizing that our essential existence is not destroyed with the body, we can overcome the fear of annihilation, which is a fundamental component of the fear of death.
