How does surrendering to a Guru help bridge the gap between the individual soul (Jiva) and the universal consciousness (Shiva)?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 27

The texts explain that the individual soul, or 'Jiva,' is limited by ignorance and ego, whereas 'Shiva' is the egoless, all-knowing consciousness. Chapter 27 clarifies that the Guru is the only way to realize the non-difference between these two states. A capable Guru knows precisely how to remove this distinction. The process involves the devotee surrendering their mind, with all its inherent thoughts and doubts, at the Guru's feet. By also surrendering the power of action and acting only as the Guru commands, the devotee's ego is effectively transferred to him. This ego-free action aligns the individual with the divine will, paving the way to dissolve the limited 'Jiva' into the all-knowing 'Shiva'.
