Sai Baba's ways of granting grace are wonderfully varied and tailored to the individual devotee. As described in Chapter 27, the method of grace is determined by the devotee's authority, mental disposition, service, and love. Sometimes, Baba would fulfill a devotee's purpose through casual joking and humor when least expected. His approach can be compared to a skilled doctor who uses a trick to administer medicine to a reluctant patient, sometimes giving them what they want (like jaggery) first to make them accept what they need.
