How does one attain the 'flame of knowledge' as described in the Satcharitra, and what is love's role in this process?

📖 Chapter 48

Chapter 48 uses a beautiful metaphor to explain the attainment of knowledge. It describes the devotee's heart as a lamp-dish, which must be prepared with a mind of theism and a state of faith. In this lamp, the 'oil of love' must be used to light the wick. Only when the wick is lit with this oil of love can the 'flame of knowledge' manifest. The text strongly asserts that without love, knowledge is considered dry and serves no purpose for anyone. This illustrates that love is not merely a complementary emotion but the essential fuel required to transform faith into true spiritual wisdom and illumination. Without love, there is no satisfaction, and it should be an uninterrupted force in a devotee's life.
