How does Hemadpant, the narrator, describe his own role in composing the Sai Satcharita?

📖 Chapter 47

Hemadpant portrays his role with great humility, positioning himself merely as an instrument for Sai Baba's will. In Chapter 47, he explains that Sai Baba is the "eye of the eyes and the ear of the ears," and that Baba himself entered his heart to narrate the account (47.7). He goes so far as to question his own identity in the process, stating that if Sai Samarth is the story, the speaker, and the face, then "who is Hemad? He is merely a nickname" (47.16). He reinforces this by admitting that he is as empty as any listener if he fails to grasp the distilled essence of the stories he is telling, highlighting that the true source and power behind the narrative is Sai Baba alone.
