How does Chapter 22 use the imagery of the moon to describe the experience of having a vision of Sai Baba?

๐Ÿ“– Chapter 22

Chapter 22 beautifully employs moon imagery to describe the fulfillment of a devotee's longing for a vision, or darshan. It compares the devotee's yearning to the natural longing everyone feels for the sight of the moon after the dark night of the New Moon. The chapter explains how Baba fulfills this desire at his own feet. When he sits with his right foot over his left knee and grasps the space between his toes with his left hand, the nail of his right big toe is said to shine like the crescent moon of the second day. As Chapter 22 describes, this becomes a focal point for the devotee, fulfilling their "curiosity for a vision."
