How does Chapter 17 advise us to handle the 'conflict of dualities' and the entanglement of 'me and you'?

📖 Chapter 17

Chapter 17 addresses the 'conflict of dualities'—the constant struggle between happiness and sorrow—by advising that one should not 'break into pieces' when faced with life's distressing shocks. It identifies the root of this struggle as the entanglement in the world of 'me and you,' which stems from the 'confusion of bodily ego.' This ego-driven perspective of 'I and mine' is dismissed as being illusory, 'like a mirage.' The chapter's solution is to transcend these dualistic states of bondage and liberation, discard all ignorance of happiness or sorrow, and remain in a 'pure, self-controlled state' by acquiring special knowledge (Vijnana).
