How does Baba illustrate the difference between a disciple with and without patience, and how are faith and patience related?

📖 Chapter 19

Baba explains that Faith (Nishtha) and Patience (Saburi) are deeply interconnected, describing them as 'two sisters, dear as life to each other.' Chapter 19 clarifies that even a powerful Guru expects these qualities from a disciple. To illustrate the outcome, an analogy is used: a stone and a gem are both rubbed on a whetstone. While the process is the same for both, the gem becomes a brilliant, sparkling jewel, whereas the stone merely becomes smooth. The whetstone represents the Guru's guidance, which polishes both types of disciples. However, only the disciple who possesses the inherent qualities of faith and patience—the gem—can truly gain spiritual luster and brilliance.
