How did the tradition of bringing two ceremonial flags to the Masjid during the Ram Navami fair begin?

The tradition of the two ceremonial flags is a key feature of the Ram Navami fair in Shirdi. As explained in Chapter 0, on Ram Navami day, two large flags were carried in a grand procession to the Masjid and tied at its two ends. This practice was established through the contributions of two specific devotees. One of the flags was provided by Damu Shet Kasar of Ahmednagar. The other flag came from Nanasaheb Nimonkar, who was a respected Honorary Magistrate. Nanasaheb's faith in Sai Baba grew so strong that he eventually left his post and spent his final years in constant service to Maharaj, with his flag becoming a symbol of his devotion.
