How did the Sanyasi change his request upon his second visit to Dev's house?

Upon his second visit, the Sanyasi, noticing Dev's restlessness and suspicion, quickly clarified his purpose. As detailed in Chapter 40, he stated, 'I am not in a hurry for money. I haven't come for money; today we want a meal.' He then mentioned he had two companions with him. This changed the nature of his visit from a request for a monetary donation to a request for food.
