How did the sannyasi Vijayananda's plans change after speaking with Swami Somdevji in Shirdi?

The sannyasi Vijayananda's original plan was to travel from Madras to Mansarovar. However, his determination was shaken in Shirdi. As Chapter 31 recounts, he met Swami Somdevji of Haridwar, who informed him that Mansarovar was five hundred miles away, the journey involved heavy snow, and outsiders faced many hardships due to changing languages and wary natives.
