How did the sannyasi Vijayananda become dejected upon his arrival in Shirdi?

According to Chapter 31, upon arriving in Shirdi, the sannyasi Vijayananda met another holy man, Swami Somdevji of Haridwar. When Vijayananda inquired about the journey to Mansarovar, the Swami painted a grim picture. He described the destination as being five hundred miles away, fraught with heavy snow, and marked by frequent changes in language. He also warned that outsiders face many hardships and fears from the local population. As the chapter states, hearing this discouraging news from the Swami's mouth caused Vijayananda to become dejected and his mind to become distressed and immersed in worry.
