How did the saint who came to Shirdi eventually get the name 'Sai Baba'?

📖 Chapter 0

The name 'Sai Baba' was given to the Maharaj upon his arrival in Shirdi. As detailed in the introduction in Chapter 0, when he first entered the Khandoba temple, a resident goldsmith named Mhalasapati greeted him with the words 'Aavo Sai Baba,' which translates to 'Come, Sai Baba.' The Maharaj held onto this name for the rest of his life. The text further notes that when his testimony was taken in a commission and he was asked his name, he replied, 'They call me Sai Baba,' confirming the name given to him by Mhalasapati as described in Chapter 0.
