According to the story told by Alli Mohammed in Chapter 41 of the Sai Satcharitra, he first acquired the portrait in Mumbai. While wandering the city streets one day, he saw a merchant selling beautiful pictures of saints and holy men. As he looked through them, a particular portrait of Sai Baba appealed deeply to his heart, its attractiveness surpassing all others. Since Sai was already his worshipped deity, he became eager to have it, paid the price in cash, and took it home. He then hung it on his wall and would take its Darshan daily with great love and joy, long before the events that led him to give it away.
How did the portrait of Sai Baba, which was later given as a gift on Holi, originally come into Alli Mohammed's possession?
