How did the family of the boy with the bone-cyst come to believe in the power of Sai Baba's Udi?

The family's journey to faith in Sai Baba's Udi was born out of desperation. As detailed in Chapter 34, the boy's uncle was a doctor, and he, along with his physician friends and expert surgeons, had tried every possible medical treatment, both native and foreign, to cure the boy's bone-cyst. When all these efforts were exhausted and even surgery failed, the family was helpless and worried. It was only after reaching the absolute limit of medical remedies that word of a famous saint, Sai Maharaj of Shirdi, reached their ears. They heard that if he applied his Udi, even incurable diseases would perish. Viewing this as their last resort, they decided to try it, saying, 'What is there to lose in gaining this experience?'
