How did the community react and what debate arose during Sai Baba's three-day motionless state?

📖 Chapter 44

Chapter 44 details the mixed and evolving reactions during Sai Baba's 1886 samadhi. Initially, when his breath and pulse stopped, people lost hope. While Mhalasapati dutifully guarded Baba's body day and night, the rest of the village gathered in stunned amazement. After two days passed with the body remaining cold and without luster, a debate began. The Maulvis, Mullas, Fakirs, Appa Kulkarni, and Kashiram made a firm decision that Baba had passed and his body should be put to rest. However, others argued against this haste, placing their faith in Baba's infallible word and insisting they wait the full three days he had specified.
