How did the author receive permission from Sai Baba to write the stories of His life?

The author recounts that Sai Baba, feeling compassion for his sincere desire, provided courage and granted explicit permission to create a collection of His stories and experiences. According to Chapter 2, Sai stated, "A collection of stories, news, and experiences should indeed be made. Keep a record; it is good. My full help is with it." Sai further explained that the author was merely a pretext and that He Himself would write His own story to fulfill the devotee's wish. Sai promised His full assistance on the condition that the author dissolve his ego and surrender at His feet, at which point Sai would enter with 'I-ness' and write with His own hand.
