How did the author of Shri Sai Satcharita, Annasaheb, initially feel about having a Guru?

📖 Chapter 0

The preface in Chapter 0 reveals that Annasaheb's path to Guru devotion was not immediate. Based on an account he wrote about himself in the third chapter, he initially had no love for or devotion to a Guru. In fact, he used to think that the practice of 'making a Guru' was a fraud and took great pride in his own sense of doership. This perspective was completely transformed after his first encounter with Baba. As the preface states, the moment their eyes met, his pride was shattered, and he became fully convinced that a Sadguru is essential for crossing the ocean of life. The writing of the Shri Sai Satcharita itself is described as the fruit of Baba's subsequent grace upon him.
