How did the author manage to get close to Baba during the crowded noon Aarti?

In the narrative from Chapter 19, the author describes arriving at the Masjid as the noon Aarti was in full swing. The pavilion was so crowded with men that the author saw no way to go up the steps and resigned to waiting below until the ceremony concluded. However, while the author was having this thought, Madhavrao saw him, climbed the steps, and took him by the hand. Madhavrao then pulled the author up through the crowd, leading him directly to a spot near Sai Baba, thus fulfilling the author's heartfelt desire to be close to him during the Aarti.
