How did the annual fair in Shirdi begin, and why is it held on Ram Navami?

The idea for an annual fair, or Jatra/Urs, in honor of Maharaj was first proposed by Gopalrao Gund. He discussed it with other devotees like Tatya Patil and Madhavrao Deshpande, who agreed to organize it. According to Chapter 0, they faced initial obstacles from the local Kulkarni, which even led to a collector's order prohibiting the fair. However, they eventually obtained permission. The specific date was chosen by Maharaj's command to be Ram Navami, and this tradition has continued ever since, with Tatya Ganpati Patil Kote managing the fair from its inception.
