How did Shama react to Sai Baba's differing treatment of the two visitors from Goa, and what was Baba's initial explanation?

📖 Chapter 36

As detailed in Chapter 36, Madhavrao, also known as Shama, was present when Sai Baba accepted Dakshina from one Goan man but rejected a larger, voluntary offering from his friend. Perplexed by this apparent partiality, Shama questioned Baba directly, asking why he would show affection for a smaller sum while displaying a selfless attitude toward a larger one. Baba's initial, profound explanation was, "Shama, you don't know; I don't take anything from anyone. Mother Masjid demands what is owed, and the giver becomes free from debt." He further clarified his detachment from worldly things, stating that debt, enmity, and murder are inescapable for the doer.
