How did Sai Baba view his relationships with men and women, and what does the text say about his personal state?

📖 Chapter 37

According to Chapter 37 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra, Sai Baba held a universal sense of family, treating all with pure regard. The text explicitly states, "He holds brotherhood with men and treats women as His sisters or mothers." It further emphasizes that he was a celibate, or Urdhvareta, known to all. His personal state is described as profound and unpredictable. He was sometimes "intoxicated with Brahmananda (the bliss of the Self)," sometimes satisfied with Self-knowledge, and at other times performing actions while remaining completely detached. This chapter highlights that His actions were ultimately "incomprehensible and marvelous, truly beyond description."
