How did Sai Baba show that he was above caste distinctions and notions of ritual purity?

📖 Chapter 7

Sai Baba demonstrated his transcendence of caste and purity norms through his actions and attitude. Chapter 7 explains that for Baba, caste did not matter in the slightest because he had no ego regarding his body. This is powerfully illustrated by the fact that the "best of Brahmins" and ritually pure Agnihotris (keepers of sacred fire) would abandon their pride and prostrate before him. The chapter also notes his complete lack of disgust or concern for ritual contamination, stating that even if a dog put its mouth into the food shared among the Fakirs, his mind felt no revulsion, showing he was the same to all.
