How did Sai Baba's daily routine in Shirdi involve the creation and distribution of Udi?

📖 Chapter 33

Chapter 33 describes the methodical process behind the Udi. Sai Baba would keep a sacred fire, the Dhuni, perpetually burning in the mosque. He would purchase bundles of firewood, sometimes using Dakshina offered by devotees, and offer these logs into the fire. The large quantity of ash that remained was the Udi. The chapter states it was his daily practice to distribute this Udi to all who came to him. Whether in the morning, afternoon, or evening, he would not let anyone leave empty-handed. Giving Udi was also a known signal of his permission for devotees to depart from Shirdi and return to their villages.
