How did Sai Baba's actions demonstrate his views on the caste system and ritual purity?

Chapter 7 of the Shri Sai Satcharitra provides powerful examples of how Sai Baba transcended the caste system and conventional ideas of purity. The text states that for him, caste did not matter in the slightest, and he was the same to all, whether they were Shudra or from another caste. It is noted that the most respected Brahmins and Agnihotris (keepers of the sacred fire) would abandon their pride in ritual purity and prostrate before him. His disregard for such distinctions is further illustrated by the fact that he felt no disgust even if a dog put its mouth in the food, showing that for one who has no ego regarding the body, all beings and situations are met with equanimity.
