How did Sai Baba respond when he learned of Dev's accusation that he had failed to attend the feast?

📖 Chapter 40

When Jog presented Dev's letter of complaint, Sai Baba explained that he was already aware of its contents and that Dev had simply failed to recognize him. According to Chapter 40, Baba recounted the events precisely, stating, 'I said I would come with two others, and I went with two others.' He described first appearing alone in a Sanyasi's guise, noting Dev's fear that he would ask for money, and then returning for the meal as promised. Baba strongly affirmed his commitment to his word, declaring, 'for the sake of My word, I would die; but the words from My mouth shall never be otherwise.' This response showed that the failure was not in the promise but in the perception of the devotee.
