As described in Chapter 5, when the grocers refused to give him oil, Sai Baba returned quietly to the mosque. He placed dry wicks in the lamps. Taking his tin pot, which had only a tiny bit of oil, he poured water into it and drank it as an offering. He then filled the lamps with plain water, soaked the wicks, and lit them. To the amazement of the watching grocers, the lamps burned brightly all night long using only water. This incredible event caused the grocers to feel deep repentance for having lied to and troubled Baba.
How did Sai Baba react when the grocers denied him oil, and what happened as a result?
