How did Sai Baba react to Laxmichand's thought about the 'evil eye'?

Chapter 28 recounts a profound incident where Sai Baba demonstrated his inner knowledge of Laxmichand's thoughts. During a Chavadi procession, Baba developed a cough. Laxmichand, observing this, privately thought to himself that the cough might be the result of someone's evil eye. The very next morning, when Laxmichand was in the masjid, Baba spoke to Madhavrao Deshpande, but loud enough for all to hear, saying, "Yesterday I had much coughing; is this the effect of an evil eye? It seems someone's evil eye has struck me." Hearing Baba repeat his exact, unspoken thought from the previous night left Laxmichand utterly astonished.
