The story of Kashiram provides a powerful example of how Maharaj protected his devotees from afar. When Kashiram was fighting off armed thieves, Maharaj, back in Shirdi, became visibly agitated, shouting and swearing. As Chapter 0 explains, those nearby understood this meant a dear devotee was in great danger and that Maharaj's agitation was a form of spiritual protection. Although it seemed impossible for Kashiram to survive, he did, demonstrating that against a Savior, a killer is powerless. After the ordeal, Kashiram was brought to Shirdi, where he was successfully treated by Madhavrao Deshpande under Maharaj's direct instructions.
