Sai Baba had a profound and skillful method for guiding his devotees through scriptural readings. As described in Chapter 18, he would assign a devotee like Bapusaheb Jog to read books such as Jnaneshwari and Nath Bhagawat in the Wada. Then, when other devotees came to meet him in the Masjid, he would often send them to listen to the reading. In a wondrous fashion, Baba would sometimes tell a short story to a devotee, who, upon going to the reading as instructed, would find that the exact same story was being read from the book. This provided confirmation and a full understanding of Baba's initial story, making Eknath's or Jnaneshwar's speech seem like a direct translation of Baba's own words.
