For instance, a group of devotees from Madras, who were on a pilgrimage to Kashi, stopped at Shirdi for his darshan. His fame for being steadfast in charity and righteousness spread widely, drawing many travelers who desired to see him, and he would sometimes distribute money even to wayfarers when the thought came to his mind.
