How did Sai Baba express his generosity, and was it always predictable?

According to Chapter 29 of the Shri Sai Satcharita, Sai Baba was renowned for his generous disposition. He was compassionate to pilgrims and would abundantly distribute money to the poor and needy, sometimes giving ten rupees to some and fifty to others.
