How did Sai Baba connect the act of eating with the ability to practice devotion or find God?

📖 Chapter 32

Sai Baba taught that there is a direct and crucial connection between nourishing the body with food and one's capacity for devotion. According to Chapter 32, he posed rhetorical questions asking how the senses could function for spiritual purposes without sustenance: 'How can the eyes see God? How can the tongue describe His glory? How can the ears hear it?' The text summarizes his view that all senses need strength from food to enable devotion to God. His principle was that to find God, one should first eat to find peace for the soul, as finding God on a hungry stomach was considered impossible.
