How did Sai Baba attend Dev's Udyapan ceremony even though Dev thought he didn't show up?

Sai Baba did indeed attend Dev's Udyapan ceremony, but he did so in disguise, which led to Dev's confusion. According to Chapter 40, Baba had promised Dev he would come with two others. On the day of the feast, a Sanyasi arrived with two companions. Dev fed them but felt disappointed, believing Baba had broken his promise. It was only later, after Dev complained to a fellow devotee named Jog, that Baba revealed the truth. Baba explained, "I said I would come with two others, and I went with two others. Before the time for the meal, once before, alone and at leisure—do you not remember the Sanyasi's guise?" This illustrates that Baba fulfilled his word by appearing in a form that Dev did not recognize.
