How did Sai Baba arrive in Shirdi, and what is the story behind how he received his name?

📖 Chapter 0

The Introduction chapter of the Sai Satcharitra explains that Maharaj, who would later be known as Sai Baba, traveled to Shirdi with the wedding procession of Chandbhai's wife's nephew. The procession stopped near the Khandoba temple, where Maharaj met a goldsmith named Mhalasapati. As soon as Mhalasapati saw him, he greeted him with the words "Aavo Sai Baba," which translates to "Come, Sai Baba." As Chapter 0 recounts, Maharaj held this name until the end, and it's how most of his devotees referred to him. When later asked his name in a commission, he himself stated, "They call me Sai Baba."
