How did Sai Baba appear during the Chavadi procession, and what rituals were performed upon His arrival?

During the Chavadi procession, Sai Baba's appearance was described as radiant. Chapter 51 of the Shri Sai Satcharita notes that His face, already of a golden hue, would shine like gold mixed with copper in the light of the lamps, resembling the morning sun. Upon arriving at the Chavadi, He would be seated with honor. Devotees would then lovingly adorn Him with ornaments like crests, plumes, crowns, and garlands of diamonds, pearls, and emeralds. They would also anoint His body with sandalwood, apply a musk mark on His forehead, and offer worship by washing His feet.
